When she was growing up, she took up interests in wrestling and got herself prepared to make a career in this field.

During her high school, McCool played Softball, Basketball, and Volleyball.

After receiving a Master degree in Educational Leadership, she taught seventh-grade science for four years in her hometown in Florida.

McCool first participated in WWE as a competitor in the 2004 WWE Diva Search but lost to Christy Hemme. In November 2004, she was signed by WWE for three years deal. Soon, she appeared in a backstage segment on SmackDown as a fitness trainer and various wrestlers stretches.

She made her debut in singles on March 24, 2005, but she lost to Dawn Marie.

Later, she was sent to Deep South Wrestling where she wrestled, hosted segment, performed interviews, and provided color commentary. While in Deep South Wrestling, she was hospitalized after having an allergic reaction.

In 2006, she returned to SmackDown and won her first singles match on July 28.

On July 20, 2008, McCool defeated Natalya to become the inaugural WWE Divas Champion. However, on December 26, 2008, she lost the Divas Championship to Maryse.

In June 2009, she defeated Melina with the help of Alicia Fox to win her first Women Championship.

Later, she allied with Layla to form a duo called LayCool and had a controversial feud with Mickie James. However, McCool lost her Women’s Championship to James at the Royal Rumble.
