  • Back in school days, he got bullied and was very disheartened by the people’s behaviour towards him.
  • While he was in high he used to make funny videos for his family, friends, and relatives.
  • He then found out that comedy was the only way to get his confidence back.
  • In 2006, he and his friend Sean Fujiyoshi began posting videos on of themselves lip-syncing to songs.

  • They named their channel- ‘NigaHiga’: ‘Niga’, which means ‘rant’ in Japanese, ‘Higa’ from his last name.
  • They quickly expanded their channel beyond songs, with other comic content such as occasional guest appearances by Tim Enos, Ryan Villaruel, Kyle Chun, Tarynn Nago, etc.
  • On 25 December 2008, Ryan and Fujiyoshi’s two most popular videos, ‘How To Be Gangster’ and ‘How To Be Emo’, were removed due to copyright violations.
  • They both were featured in a film- ‘Ryan and Sean’s Not So Excellent Adventure’, which was directed by Richard Van Vleet and released on November 14, 2008.
